Calatagan Batangas is not only known as the beach destination of Southern Luzon, but they are also known for their Seaweed farming and Candle making.

Without further ado, here are the 6 Reasons why this beach in Batangas is the best choice for your weekend getaway

1. Accessibility

Little Boracay is just a 3.5 to 4 hours drive from Manila.

You can access it by land using your own private car,

a motorcycle

or even using a public transport by commuting.

If you're coming from Northern Luzon, the North Luzon Expressway and South Luzon Expressway will connect you to your destination.

If you're using Waze or Google map,

pin the Calatagan Public Market and I will tell you later why.

2. Affordability

There's no need for an expensive plane tickets. Little Boracay will not put a hole in your wallet. If you will commute, the DLTB Bus from Buendia Manila will cost you 190 to 300 pesos or  around $3.5 to $6.

At Calatagan, parking rates for private vehicles are cheap. For Motorcycle just pay 20 pesos or $0.40.

For cars, 100 pesos or $2.

The entrance fee is 50 pesos or $1 and the ecological fee is just 30 pesos or $0.60.

Floating cottage rental that is good for 10 people will cost you around 3,500 to 4,500 pesos or around $70 to $90. That will already include the banca that will tow the floating cottage, a lifeguard and life vests.

Water activities are just optional. But if you'd like to try it the Banana Boat and the Dragon boat will cost you 2,500 or $50 good for 10 pax.

The hurricane boat will cost you the same but can only accommodate 6 people onboard.

The kayak is 300 pesos for a 1 hour rental or $6.

After the tour, the fresh water shower will cost you 20 to 50 pesos or $0.40 to $1.

Take note that I'm using the Dollar-Peso exchange rate as 50 pesos for $1. As of this time of the publishing of this video, the Dollar Peso rate is 55 pesos to 1 dollar in which, it's way cheaper for tourists who are exchanging their dollars to pesos.

By the way if you love traveling alone or a solo backpacker, the cheapest way to get there is by Joining a group tour.

Joiners as they say, will cost you 1,399 pesos or around $28. Food and Water activities are not included.

Disclaimer: All prices are subject to change without prior notice depending on the season, demand and availability.

3. 4 destinations in a day tour!

On some weekend getaway, you'll get to visit one beach destination for the rest of the day. Here, the package will include 4 Amazing Destinations. These are the:

A. Little Boracay,

Take note that Little Boracay is located in the middle of the sea. It has shallow waters that even kids can swim.

B. Starfish sanctuary,

There's a rule when handling the Starfish. Do not lift them up to expose in the open air. They are sensitive and might die in the process.

C. Coral Reefs

You can rent some snorkeling equipment but much better if your bring your own. Here, you can feed the fishes with breadcrumbs and cooked rice and watch them in a feeding frenzy!

D. Calatagan Sandbar.

This wide patch of sandbar is visible especially during the low tide.

4. Food

The reason why I ask you to pin the Calatagan Public Market because it is where you can buy your supplies of fresh foods.

In little Boracay you can experience eating a raw Sea Urchin.

But did you know that the Sea Urchin is one of the most expensive and favorite delicacy in Japan?

A fish or meat so you can cook your own food at the floating cottage. The floating cottage comes with a free griller.

But if you don't like the hassle of cooking your own food, you can also buy a ready made cooked food at the carinderia at the Calatagan Public Market. This will save you money and time.

5. Experience Boracay near Manila.

Did you know that in 2012, Boracay in the Philippines was awarded as The Best Island in the World by the International Travel magazine? Boracay bested Bali, Galapagos, Maui and the Great Barrier Reef Islands in Australia that made in the Top 5 spot.

There's a reason why it's being called the Little Boracay in Calatagan Batangas. Although not exactly as the silky smooth white sand of the Boracay, nevertheless it has a white sand, crystal clear waters,

decent water activities

and can also be crowded like the Boracay during peak seasons.

The Floating Cottages looks like floating houses from above!

6. Quick Weekend Getaway

You can get all your dose of the Vitamin Sea in just a day! Yes that's right. Just travel early to Calatagan Batangas in the morning and you can get back to Manila by evening time.

The tour starts from 7 am to 4 pm in the afternoon. So if you choose to go on Saturday, You can still get a rest on Sunday

or yet another Sunday gig to another place of your choice.

There are many beaches in Luzon that are worth the visit during weekend.

Depending on your budget, you can always find expensive and affordable Tropical Beaches.
